August 15, 2025 – [Los, Angeles, CA] — Uprooted Academy is proud to welcome four exceptional new team members whose diverse skills, lived experiences, and deep commitment to educational equity will help propel our mission forward: supporting under-resourced students through every step of their college application journey.

Meet our newest team members:

• Mariana Gonzalez – Coordinator, Operations

  As a first-generation, low-income college graduate, Mariana believes everyone deserves the chance to build the life they want through education. She oversees internal systems, fundraising operations, and event logistics to ensure Uprooted Academy runs seamlessly.

  
  

• Josh Schuschke – Director, Product Strategy & Research

  A researcher, scholar, and consultant at the intersection of Black Media Studies and Educational Technology, Josh is committed to leveraging cultural strengths and political education to create a world where all youth thrive. He leads research and strategy initiatives that inform Uprooted Academy’s innovative tools and programs.

  
  

• Elisa Castillo – Manager, Partner Success & Engagement

  Grounded in equity, empowerment, and student-centered design, Elisa champions clear pathways to college and career success. She is especially passionate about harnessing AI to personalize planning and bridge opportunity gaps for marginalized students.

  
  

• Lauren Flemming – Director, Partner Success & Growth Strategy

  An experienced educator and program manager, Lauren brings a global perspective and strong cross-cultural communication skills to her role. She focuses on relationship-building and strategic growth to strengthen Uprooted Academy’s partnerships and reach.
