U.S. Military Academy (West Point): Summer Leaders Experience & STEM Programs





Summer Leaders Experience (SLE)


West Point’s Summer Leaders Experience is a weeklong program for rising seniors that provides an authentic glimpse into cadet life. Participants engage in military training, academic workshops, and team-building exercises led by current cadets.


What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in squad, platoon, and company leadership training.

  • Work one-on-one with West Point cadets and admissions counselors.

  • Train for the Cadet Fitness Test with professional guidance.

  • Explore West Point’s high-tech labs and academic facilities.

  • Experience intense team-building activities and connect with athletics coaches.


2025 Dates:

  • Session 1: May 31 – June 6, 2025

  • Session 2: June 7 – June 13, 2025


Cost: $625 (need-based scholarships available). Fee includes clothing, supplies, meals, lodging, and instructor expenses. Travel to and from West Point is not included. Buses are available from Newark Airport.


Application Period: February 15 – April 15, 2025

Middle/High School STEM Programs


For younger students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math, West Point offers engaging summer STEM camps.


2025 Dates:

  • 6th and 7th Graders: June 2–6, 2025

  • 8th and 9th Graders: June 9–13, 2025


Cost: Tuition, room, and board are free. Families are responsible for transportation.


Application Period: January 6 – February 17, 2025

U.S. Naval Academy (USNA): Summer Seminar & STEM Program





Summer Seminar


For rising seniors, the Summer Seminar offers a six-day preview of midshipman life. Participants live in Bancroft Hall (the dormitory for all midshipmen), engage in leadership training, and explore USNA’s academic and professional opportunities.


What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in leadership workshops and athletic challenges.

  • Learn about the Navy’s cutting-edge technology and career paths.

  • Immerse yourself in the campus lifestyle and network with peers.


2025 Dates:

  • Session 1: May 31 – June 5, 2025

  • Session 2: June 7 – June 12, 2025

  • Session 3: June 14 – June 19, 2025


Cost: $550 (need-based scholarships available). Fee includes lodging, meals, and required clothing.

Summer STEM Program


This weeklong program is designed for rising 9th–11th graders passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math.


2025 Dates:

  • Session 1: June 2 – June 7, 2025: Current 8th Graders/Rising 9th Graders

  • Session 2: June 9 – June 14, 2025: Current 9th Graders/Rising 10th Graders

  • Session 3: June 16 – June 20, 2025: Current 10th Graders/Rising 11th Graders


Cost: $750 (need-based scholarships available). Fee includes transportation to and from Baltimore-Washington Airport, lodging, meals, and more.


Application Deadline: March 31, 2025

U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA): Summer Seminar





Summer Seminar


This four-day program for rising seniors offers participants a chance to live like cadets. Students stay in dormitories, tour research labs, and attend leadership workshops.


What You’ll Do:

  • Explore campus facilities, including academic and athletic areas.

  • Engage in workshops on leadership and application strategies.

  • Network with current cadets and academy faculty.


2025 Dates:

  • Session A: June 3–6, 2025

  • Session B: June 10–13, 2025

  • Session C: June 16–19, 2025


Cost: Approximately $300 (limited scholarships available). Fee includes lodging, meals, seminar uniforms, and workshop supplies. Participants are responsible for travel.


Application Period: December 1, 2024 – January 15, 2025

Future Falcon Program


For students graduating between 2026 and 2030, USAFA’s Future Falcon Program is under renovation.



U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA): Academy Introduction Mission (AIM)





The Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) is an intensive one-week program for rising seniors. AIM challenges participants both mentally and physically to determine if cadet life is the right fit.


What You’ll Do:

  • Train, compete, and build resilience through rigorous daily activities.

  • Experience life as a cadet by living, studying, and working on campus.

  • Test your limits through real-world leadership challenges.


2025 Dates:

  • Session I: July 6–11, 2025 (On Campus)

  • Session II: July 13–18, 2025 (On Campus)

  • Session III: July 20–25, 2025 (On Campus)

  • Session IV: July 29–30, 2025 (Virtual AIM)


Cost:

  • In-Person Tuition (Sessions I–III): $750 (scholarships available)

  • Virtual Tuition (Session IV): Free

  • Participants are responsible for tuition, travel expenses, and spending money.


Application Period: February 1, 2025 – March 31, 2025

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA): Campus Visits


The USMMA doesn’t offer separate summer programs due to its trimester system and Sea Year commitments. However, prospective students are encouraged to visit campus year-round for tours and overnight stays.
